NEW FAMILIES INFO

Welcome All New Families!  We know moving into a new neighborhood or beginning your first child’s kindergarten could be overwhelming and sometimes stressful.  We are here to help!  Please explore the Edgewood New Families Guide prepared by our PTA. It contains essential information you need to know about our school and PTA to ensure a smooth start of your Edgewood journey.

2. JOIN PTA

Edgewood's PTA exists to bring parents and teachers together. With our combined power, we work to make school a great place for kids. If you are a new and current Edgewood Family, please consider joining the Edgewood PTA.

When the PTA Membership Registration period opens (typically in late August/early September), you will be able to join the PTA.  Please be on the lookout for the newsletters which will provide you with further information.

Edgewood PTA would be so grateful if you would join us!  Please contact our PTA Co-Presidents for further information.

3. VOLUNTEER!

Whether you have 30 minutes or larger chunks of time, your willingness to volunteer makes a big difference in the life of our school!  Most Edgewood volunteers work full or part time, which makes everyone's service extra important!  See where your talents might be best used here!

4. BUDDY PROGRAM!

In an effort to help welcome new families to the Edgewood school community, the Buddy Program connects new families with a host 'Buddy Family'.   If you are interested in volunteering as a host Buddy Family - or are a newly arrived family interested in signing up - don't be shy! As a new arrival family: you will get the benefit of an established Edgewood family's insider knowledge – helping to make your transition to the Edgewood community that little bit easier. It will also make sure the new kids know someone in the school when they start, which always helps! For new families who would like to have a Buddy Family, please send the following information to our current Buddy Chairs.

  • Student names, gender, grades, teachers

  • Mother/guardian name, email address and cell phone

  • Father/guardian name, email address and cell phone

  • Home address

  • Home phone number

  • Where you moved from

  • Request a host family who speaks a specific language

It’s easy and fun!  All we ask is the Buddy Families meet at least once – after that, it's up to you! As a host Buddy Family: you will help a new family become accustomed to both Edgewood and Scarsdale living, with friendly advice on what to expect as parents and students in the school and the wider community.   Please contact the Buddy Family Chair with any questions
